Genesis 25:23 And he told her, “The sons in your womb shall become two rival nations. One will be stronger than the other; and the older shall be a servant of the younger!” (TLB)
Abraham died and was buried. And after his father’s death, Isaac took over the farm. And while the farm was a lot of work, it was also a blessing because it gave them food and money and water and shelter. Isaac and Rebekah worked the farm, planted seeds, and sheared sheep. And they were happy together.
They had a house, food, water, and money. Everything seemed like it was going to work out for these newlyweds. But as the months turned into years, Rebekah remained un-pregnant. And so Isaac prayed to God and said, “Please, not again. Don’t make her suffer like my mother. Just let her get pregnant. And maybe don’t wait until she’s 90!” And Isaac’s prayer was answered, and Rebekah became pregnant. “Hallelujah!” they cheered in relief.
