After David became old and died, his son Solomon became the next king. He was young and inexperienced, and very nervous. He really wanted to be a good king because his father had been a great one. But being a king was not easy. People would stand all day in long lines to ask his advice. Their problems felt really complicated, and Solomon wasn’t sure what to say. So he decided to ask God for help. “God,” he said, “I really need a blessing!”
And God came to Solomon in his dream. “Child,” God said, “I hear you. What do you want?”
“God, I am so young,” said Solomon. “I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing half the time. I’m trying to be a good king like my father was, but it’s hard. There are so many people. And being their king is not straightforward. Please help me to be wise.”
