Numbers 11:29 But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!” (NIV)
In the last story, when Moses needed help, seventy people came and helped him. And they began to pray to God just like Moses had. And God spoke to them like he had spoken to Moses. And so Moses was no longer the only person talking to God. And soon enough, other people started to pray to God, and God started to talk with them too!
Now that all sounds pretty amazing, the whole family praying and talking to God. But this can also be concerning. And it was particularly concerning to a man named Joshua. Everyone used to follow Moses because he was the only one who could talk to God. But if anyone could talk to God, why would anyone follow Moses anymore? People could just ask their own questions and get their own answers.
