At-One-Ment Retreat with Thomas McConkie
Plus Terryl Givens on the Apostasy Tonight at The Compass
Since the publications of my book, Atonement, there has been a groundswell of interest in practices, in spiritual disciplines that lead to the experience of Oneness. I’m thrilled to continue to offer this 3-day retreat in 2025. The curriculum and content continues to evolve, but the timeless Wisdom that animates us all remains the same.
In the sacred traditions of the world, humans have discovered independently—across time and space—that we are capable of joining ourselves with the Fullness of all that is. Some have called this spiritual reality awakening, others liberation. In the Christian tradition, perhaps surprisingly, a powerful concept pointing to this divine union is atonement (or at-one-ment).
But how can we translate these beautiful concepts of Oneness into a lived, embodied reality? When we feel separate and estranged from ourselves and the Divine, what can we do to thin the veil and return to a state of Creative Flow and Grace?
Join us for an upcoming gathering on May 15 - 17th to explore practices from At-One-Ment, including:
• Being embodied at all levels: Physical, mental/emotional, spiritual
• Calming and focusing the mind
• Awakening the heart and unitive awareness
• Working with core vulnerabilities in the body
• Exploring the stages of maturity through adult development
• Bearing one another’s burdens, or collective healing

TONIGHT 6PM AT THE COMPASS AND ONLINE
Latter-day Saints regularly hear that they are part of a restored church or an ongoing restoration, but a restoration of what exactly? What do we know about the early Christian church? How was it like or unlike our church today? What was actually lost and what is worth recovering from our Christian past? Join Terryl Givens and Dr. Ariel Laughton (PhD Duke), for a fascinating evening as they explore these questions.
SUNDAY FEB 2: WIDER CIRCLES INTERFAITH GATHERING
Faith Matters is excited to begin a brand-new event series Wider Circles: A Faith Matters Interfaith Gathering. Each month, come hear a different faith leader share a meaningful practice, reading, or idea from their tradition, learn about opportunities to partner together in service, and have the opportunity to ask them anything—no bad questions. We also break bread together and invite you to bring a favorite loaf, dip or spread to share.
We are honored to welcome Rev. Jamie White, who became the 18th Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in the summer of 2022, marking the historic 150th Anniversary of the church as our first female senior minister. Originally from California, Jamie received her undergraduate degree in Pastoral Leadership and Biblical studies from Vanguard University of Southern California. She later received her Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary where she was a distinguished Apollos Scholar and received a number of awards for ministry excellence.
